  1. Moving my Capri 25 from Patrick AFB to Waterline Marina and was told about some PHRF racing near the dragon. I’m looking to find out what I need to get involved.

    1. There is a monthly race at Dragon Point, just on the north side of the Eau Gallie Causeway. If you look on the calendar, it’s the Dragon Point Co-Ed series on Saturday afternoons. You can find registration info on the IRYC.org website. The PHRF fleet has gotten pretty small, but there are usually 2 – 4 other boats. You don’t need to be an IRYC member, just fill out the form and bring a check and drop them at the RC boat on race day.

There is also a “beer can” race every other Sunday afternoon at MYC, just south of the Melbourne Causeway. You can register with MYC, you do not need to be a member to race. The next one is this Sunday.

For both of those, you will need a PHRF rating from the local committee. They are currently in the process of redesigning their page here, so for now just email Del Wiese to get a rating.

If you need more details on either, let me know.

      1. PHRF Fleet small. Maybe I can talk a couple Patrick AFB guys into making it larger as I’ve actually got a couple of them interested lately. We have two Capri 25’s and a guy with a Catalina 25 that is hard to beat.

I’ll get on the PHRF cert right away. Thanx for the reply Brad.

        1. We’d love to see the PHRF fleet grow again. A few years ago it was pretty active, but people drift away (some of them buy J/24s and join the OD fleet). If we start getting a few more regulars, I bet it will snowball into something.

      2. tried to reply on this …not sure of success so I’ll try again.

Thanx for the info guys. We’ll get to work on the PHRF cert right away and maybe I can talk a couple others into making your PHRF fleet larger.

    2. Rik:
Please consider racing in the MYC Fall Race Week, We have races you can participate on Friday Oct 26 , 27 and 28, You can do all or some.
