The Lake Monroe Sailing Association, Inc., (LMSA) is a not-for-profit organization made up of people passionate about the sport of sailing, all activities associated with sailing and just plain fun! LMSA is dedicated to sailing in all aspects – promoting racing, cruising, seamanship, education, safety and community involvement. LMSA was started in 1985 by a group of local sailors who wanted to share, expand and improve their sailing experience and skill.
LMSA is always seeking enthusiastic new members of all skill levels. Our current membership includes individuals, young adults and families with racing experience levels from novice to champion. Our membership consists of sailors who keep their boats on or near Lake Monroe, trailer sailors and those who currently don’t own boats but desire to crew with others. Members sail a variety of boats including Catalina 22, San Juan 21, Mirage 5.5, Precision 23, Hunter 23, Force 5, F31 Trimaran, O’Day 19 and Flying Scot.
LMSA membership provides opportunities for sailing and camaraderie year round. LMSA holds monthly meetings and club races on Lake Monroe. Our calendar includes day and evening racing and sailing events, sunset and overnight cruises, seminars and road trips to other area sailing club regattas. LMSA hosts three regattas during the year, the Trans Monroe Regatta, the Fall Regatta and our feature charity Regatta, The Kettle Cup, in December. LMSA takes part in our community activities such as the Historic Sanford Welcome Center’s Alive After Five, City of Sanford parades and festivals and Seminole County’s Lake Monroe Clean Up. LMSA is also currently developing a youth sailing program.
LMSA membership provides a variety of ways to participate. You may wish to organize sailing events or regattas, crew, work on committee boats, become an officer, volunteer for committees, organize involvement in community events, write articles for the association’s newsletter, The Lazy Sheet or just spend more time sailing, relaxing and socializing.
LMSA invites you to contact us for more information and join us in crafting and expanding exceptional sailing experiences on Lake Monroe and in Central Florida.
